About Us

+ About Goldie?

Goldie is changing the face of investing, by lowering the barrier for kiwis to invest in real things.

We’re starting with gold and expanding into other real assets such as art and high-value collectibles in the future. Goldie is a New Zealand first and is driven by purpose, we provide access and education to those who have been excluded from the real asset markets. 

+ Who is Goldie?

Our founders are everyday investors who had an issue with getting a raw deal on investing in real things. They put their heads and collective experience together to fix the system that was keeping them out of the game.

+ Goldie as a Company

When investing with Goldie there are two separate companies involved - Goldie Vaults Limited and Goldie Nominee Limited..

Goldie Vaults Limited operates the fractional asset trading platform, employs staff and makes sure everything keeps ticking on the back-end.

Goldie Nominee Limited holds the physical assets and investors’ money on your behalf, and works with Catalist Marketplace to execute the trades in their regulated marketplace.

Catalist is New Zealand's alternative stock exchange that connects everyday investors and Kiwi businesses. Catalist executes Goldie trades through their licensed public Market (Catalist Public Market).  https://www.catalist.co.nz/

+ Do you have an App?

We have a web app which means you don't need to download another app to get lost on your home screen - Check it out app.getgoldie.co.nz

The web app makes it super easy to access your digital vault, deposit money, and buy and sell.

Getting Started

+ How do I get started?

Easy, all you need is your email. It’s free to sign up and explore. You’ll be able to browse our platform, your digital vault & learn a little more about Goldie.  

Before you can start investing, we need to verify your identity, this only takes a few minutes and can be done on your phone with a NZ driver's licence. We also want to get to know you, so we ask a few quick questions to collect information as part of our anti-money laundering obligations. Yes, it’s the admin part, but we’ve done our best to make it as easy as possible. 

Rules: You must be over 18 to open a Goldie account and start investing…. But we haven't forgotten about the kids! We’ve built a great feature so you can set up and manage a vault for kids to help start them on their investing journey.

+ How do I deposit money?

Once you are verified, you can use one of our payment methods to deposit money into your digital wallet. 

You’ll have a unique code that you must add to the ‘Reference’ field if you’re using the bank deposit option to make sure your money goes into your Goldie digital wallet.

When you sign into Goldie you’ll be able to see all of your deposits and transactions. There are no charges to deposit money via online banking and only on-charge the small fee for using the instant top-up options through POLi, and Stripe payments. We deal in NZD so no pesky exchange fees either.  

+ Can I withdraw my money?

Absolutely! It’s your money after all. We ask you to confirm the account number before sending money back to you, and the bank account you made your first deposit from will be registered on your account.

We may ask you to further verify your identity again before withdrawing funds to make sure it goes to this right place.

+ Promotions

With some promotions, you may have a restriction on when you can withdraw money we have gifted to you. This helps keep you and us safe from nasty money laundering practices.

+ Gifting

If you receive a Goldie gift voucher, you will need to invest this before you can sell the investment and withdraw the funds. This helps ensure that the gift is invested as the gifter intended. 

+ I'm new to investing, is Goldie for me?

We’re on a mission to make investing in real things super simple and rewarding for everyone, novices, and specialists alike. Goldie is here to help you get started or keep building on that nest egg.  As always, we recommend that you get independent advice as needed to ensure you fully understand any investments you make.

Investing

+ What is the risk of investing?

All Investing involves risk. You are not guaranteed to make money, and you might lose the money you start with. It is super important that you understand the risks associated with investments generally and with Goldie, check out our offer sheet for more info to help you make an informed decision. 

+ Can I set up an account for my kids?

With Goldie, it’s easy to open a vault for your little ones. These vaults are connected to your own account until you decide to pass it over to the child (once they are at least 18). Contact us at Support@getgoldie.co.nz for help doing this.

+ Is there a minimum investment amount?

Goldie purchases 1kg Gold bars that our clever platform fractionalises into 10,000 pieces so you can get started with less.

1/10,000th of a kilogram is called a ‘decigram’ which depending on the price of gold at the time you invest is the minimum amount… At the moment, this is approximately $10 – about the same as your triple shot, decaf, mung bean milk latte with pumpkin spice. 

+ Will my investment be safe if Goldie is liquidated?

If something were to happen to Goldie, your investment is safe as it is held in an independent company, separate to Goldie Vaults Limited. Physical gold held by Goldie Nominee may be liquidated and you would receive the value of your investment at the market spot price at the time of liquidation.  

+ Is my data secure with Goldie?

Goldie has regular security testing done and encrypts all information, we also offer optional multi-factor authentication through the platform that users can add as an extra layer of security to protect their information.

+ Do I have to be from New Zealand to invest?

Yes, at this stage Goldie is only available to New Zealand investors with a valid government issued I.D.

+ Do you accept foreign currency & crypto currencies?

No, currently we only accept New Zealand Dollars through our available purchase methods in the Platform.

+ How do I know you're not a scam? Are you regulated?

Goldie isn't a scam, we’re the real deal built by real people right here in NZ. Goldie operates through the Catalist Public Market which is a regulated financial marketplace - check out more on this here - https://www.catalist.co.nz/

Taxes

+ Do I have to pay taxes on my earnings?

Goldie doesn't provide tax advice and we recommend that investors get specific advice as it relates to their own investments and situation.

Gold

+ Can I physically see the gold I've invested in?

Yeah… why not. Let us know if you would like to and we can work with you and NZ Vault to arrange a suitable time.

+ When can I invest with Goldie?

You can buy whenever it suits you – because the physical gold is held in New Zealand you can place an order 24/7. Orders are executed daily through the Catalist Public Market.

+ Will I own the gold I've invested in?

Goldie and Catalist work together to securitize the physical gold, and issue shares this means you own equity shares in a company that owns the gold, this is the safest and easiest way to manage fractional ownership in physical things.

+ Why start with Gold?

Gold has proven over centuries to be a safe, secure and reliable investment. In times of economic uncertainty, gold has been key in helping to diversify portfolios.

+ How is the Gold kept safe?

We don't muck around when it comes to keeping your investments safe, we only store and insure the gold in the most secure vaults in NZ. Our partners NZ Vault have been operating NZ's safest Treasury grade vaults since 1931... So they know what's what when it comes to security, including 24/7 monitoring and controlled access at all times.  

+ Is the Gold insured?

Yes - All assets are insured at replacement value, meaning if something ever did happen your investment is protected.

+ What is the purity of the Gold?

Goldie only deals in investment grade bullion that is 99.9% purity, this means it is at least 99.9% pure Gold.

+ Can my Gold be worth less than what I paid for it?

The price of gold fluctuates and is determined by the international market, this means that the value of your investment will change and can go up or down.

+ Where does Goldie's Gold come from?

Goldie purchases Gold Bullion through NZ Vault who sources it from around the world, this relationship means we can source the best quality bullion at a great price.

+ Can I transfer my Gold to someone else?

Not yet, but if this is something you’d like to be able to do - let us know at Support@getgoldie.co.nz.

Fees

+ What does it cost

Goldie's fees are designed to be fair and transparent and pass value through to every day investors.

Commission

When you invest with Goldie you pay:

  • 0.89% commission on purchases, and

  • 0.50% commission on sales.

This is a flat fee so you'll pay the same rate on a $10 investment that you would pay on a $10,000 investment.

Storage and Insurance

Once your investment is more than $300, you will pay an annual storage and insurance fee of 0.33% on the value of you investment, with a minimum fee of $1.50 per month that is calculated based on the average end of day value of your investment.
